Help on training my two props Empty Help on training my two props

Post by whiskyman Wed Aug 18, 2010 8:16 pm

These were the two best two props I could buy with the money I had at the time. Both props are currently having sessions on

    Technique x2
    Defense x2
    Strength x2

Level 2 Coach and level 2 trainers. Level 3 coach in 5 weeks.

I was thinking of dropping 1 training session in technique and giving another session in strength. Any ideas. I could also find 3 extra training sessions each for these guys.

If they are props I would drop the defence sessions if anything.
I would go 3xtech and 3xstrength before adding a defence for them 2 personally

In order of importance for a prop, I would go Strength, technique and then defence. I can't get their stats to load on my computer at the moment, but would probably drop 1 defence for a strength or technique depending on what is lowest.

Thanks for the help so far. I could find an extra 3 training for these guys, so if I got 9 training sessions each for these guys what do you recommend giving them?

I was thinking of hiring a stamina coach and giving them x3 session in stamina for several weeks and then maybe firing him and hire another defense coach to train their technique, strength and defense more, but giving 4 training sessions in any skill is probably too much?

    9 sessions for a prop:

    2 x stamina, 3 x strength, 2 x technique, 2 x defence - rotate the extra strength to technique once get pops.

Is there any evidence to support a lot of people's favouritism for forwards having much higher defence levels than say attack or agility?
I would personally stick the guy on attack since his defence is already pretty good?

its all choice woko. but id rather they jsut didnt let the opposition through, than got maybe one linebreak, didnt finish it thanks to rubbish speed, and let the opponents through time and time again.

Yeah but I would rather a balanced guy with decent attack and defence than a bunch of defensive monsters who don't know their arses from their elbows when going forward?

Maybe my penchant for attack is the basis for Wales U20 having scored 4 tries in 11 out of our 14 games this season Very Happy

I would team train attack and let it go up that way. For a prop, I like to train defence to 14 and then move it to some other skills. Strength and technique I'd just keep training.
